busy spinning my little art cocoon

So I deliver my paintings to 2 local art galleries and I bless my little paintings and chant voodoo words in the hopes that they sell. Times are tough for everyone. In my immediate hood, most of the art galleries that have shown me love have shut their doors. So I set up an etsy store and I'm now going on day 17 and no sales yet. When i get frustrated is when divine inspiration usually hits me. I have visions of edwardian gothic little creatures dancing in my head. With growth comes change and with these art sales slumps comes frustration which turns into fuel for me to think out of the box. I can't wait for me to see where this time of reflection will lead me.

Hoorray for the libraries!

I had plans today man! I was going to strut my stuff over to Borders bookstore and get me some vintage photograph books, I had 3 gift cards and a heart filled with hope. I get there and ALL of the bargain shelves are empty, the regular art shelves had a sad variety. So with my head hung in sadness, I got in my car to do the sad trek home. I popped in a sad Chopin piano CD and a few miles later, divine little idea bird told me to hit the local library. BINGO! Lots of wonderful art books in hand, I got in my car and replaced the Chopin CD with The Beatles and sung "Rocky Racoon" all the way home.

All of the little things....

All of the little things filled my heart with joy. I found a box of little ceramic faces I made, My succulent cuttings are rooting very nicely this winter, my daughter played in the snow for the first time. I also found a cache of vintage photo books I was missing for a long time stashed away in my sun room. This feels like the start of a great new year. My goal this year is to create at least 100 new little paintings/assemblages or collages. With enough green teas and days off of work I feel a creative year coming!
